Last week in Anaheim, I was standing in line at Starbucks, trying to get over my deprivation (hotel coffee isn't real coffee) I saw a Cheese Danish and was transported back in time...my last summer of college, my favorite breakfast, was a cheese danish from McDonald's and a can of Tab! Wow have we come a long way baby in breakfast choices. Now, just about daily, I enjoy what I consider the healthiest breakfast on the planet. That's a story for another day.
In the meantime here's a gift to you, a savory cheese danish recipe:
4 inch square puff pastry slightly thawed
2 ounces goat cheese
fresh shredded basil
pepper and sea salt to taste
drizzle with extra virgin olive oil
bake or grill 15 min at 400 degrees til golden brown
